A rule to protect the insect life of the river and the sport of those fishing up from below, was introduced on the 6th June 1865. The previous day Mr. Ogden, a local angler, had shown Mr. Nesfield, the Dukes Steward, how to catch nine trout with a floating artificial fly. Everything has since been done to provide the fish with good hatches of insects, so that they are fee rising. Read more.
